Beneath Him (Audible Audio Edition) Komal Kant Carly Robins Roger Wayne Tantor Audio Books

When Sky Hudson first has a run-in with tall, dark, and handsome Nicholas Ruggarson, she wants nothing more than to throw her coffee at him. He is rude and arrogant, and she is glad she never has to set eyes on him ever again. Or so she thinks.
It turns out not only does she have to see Nick again, but she also has to live with him. Hired as the new nanny to work for Nick's affluent family, she can't seem to get away from the womanizing jerk.
With a hot and cold relationship and an undeniable attraction between them, Sky might finally be the woman to break through Nick's arrogance and discover there is more to him than she ever imagined.
Beneath Him (Audible Audio Edition) Komal Kant Carly Robins Roger Wayne Tantor Audio Books
The beginning started out ok. Sky is broke, takes a job as a nanny to a very wealthy family. She meets Nick, a total a-hole, who happens to be part of that wealthy family. My issue was with the writing. It felt very juvenile to me. I just didn't connect with it at all. I had issues with how Nick kept repeatedly telling Sky how poor she was and how she means less than nothing to anyone. She sits there and takes it. And then there was this part.....Sky agrees to go out to dinner with Nick. He's in a $2000 suit (because he yells that part out at her) and drives a BMW. Sky wants to go to Burger King and he says "But I drive a BMW!!!" And the author writes that the drive thru worker's eyes were big, no doubt a result of seeing a BMW at the window. Ok....I can't afford a BMW but it's not like he was driving a freaking Rolls Royce!!! Really??? A big deal over a BMW? Ugh. Sky is the nanny but never seems to do anything. Nick is bipolar or something because he flips out and belittles Sky every chance he gets. The romance....there wasn't any. The "romantic" parts were so forced, it was painful to read. It was both of them acting like immature brats. I'm sorry to the author but this book was awful in my honest opinion.Product details

Beneath Him (Audible Audio Edition) Komal Kant Carly Robins Roger Wayne Tantor Audio Books Reviews
The book had 3993 locations on my kindle. The book was about a 21 year old nanny, named Sky and a 24 year old man, named Nick. Sky was an outspoken, indecisive doormat, who liked to cook. Nick was a wealthy, childish, cigarette smoking, hard drinking, man whore, with secrets. Sky met Nick in a coffee shop and she immediately concluded, he was jerk. The book was like a teenage romance, novel. Sky and Nick, didn't even kiss, until the book was nearing the end. The book contained one so, so sex scene, also near the end. The characters were so juvenile. Nick constantly blew hot and cold. He insulted Sky and threw his wealth in her face. "I want you, but you're beneath me" She constantly called him a jerk, but kept coming back for more. She also kept reminding the reader, about his gorgeous looks, which irritated me. I hated the way, Nick's family coddled him. I also, thought, his anger, towards, his friend Matt, made no sense. There was a little twist at the end, but by this time, I did not care.
I think it's more of a 2.5 rating.
The sample had me hooked from the beginning, so I bought the book. I liked Sky's character and how she handled most situations. In th beginning she was strong and confident by toward the end she started taking more carp from Nick. He would apologize but some times I felt like it wasn't enough if he was going to mess up again ten minutes later. The whole secret became obvious toward the middle. I actually liked Sky and Nick together because there personalities matched, she became more submissive to his dominant personality. She was caring were he was shellfish and callous. They balanced each other.
The sub characters were good. Didn't really like her friend Erin... btw talking to her about everything was a complete breech of the confidentiality contracts....thought that would be brought up at some point. I also could do without the lengthy description of the house... kind of boring when Done for each room.

****mini spoiler I really didn't like that Sky was second place to him. Yeah he loved Celia but at some point I wanted to see where she had the same or more value than her. To me she seems like she will always be competing with a ghost.

anyway the book was good other than Nick being an a hole 60 percent of the book.
Beneath Him is told from alternating points of view of the two main characters Sky and Nicholas (aka Nick). Sky is a strong, independent young woman who doesn’t take crap from anyone. Many people, including Nick, think money gives them the distinct privilege to be rude and condescending and think their time is more valuable than the rest. But Sky is quick to put Nick in his place during a chance meeting, leaving him shocked but turned on and very intrigued! Of course, you get to see Nick and Sky interact throughout the rest of the book and watch their relationship grow and change as Sky was hired as a nanny to work for Nick’s parents.
“I was like stone—strong, resilient, unwavering. He was the wind—wild, harsh, unpredictable. He had the power to wear me down, slowly yet surely. And finally he had worn me down.”
There were some blatant grammatical errors throughout the book which need to be cleaned up, but this did not take away from enjoying the book. I would have liked to have had more background on Sky’s relationship with her mom before she died and how it affected Sky personally. I think that relationship was important to the overall book, especially towards the end of the book when we find out the family secret. (I can’t say anymore or it will ruin the plot.)
I’ve seen some people complain that they figured out what the family secret was early on in the book, and I did too. But again, that did not take away from my enjoyment of the book. If it were a mystery book, that would be a different story. Nick talks about work once and then it seemed like he never worked again, so I was scratching my head at this as well.
But I really enjoyed the writing style and the flow of the book. One thing that stands out in my mind is the night that Nick and Sky were going to go out to dinner, but Sky wanted something easy and simple and not fancy. Eventually that “special something” that they shared that night became “their thing,” and I loved it! It made me like Nick even more. Haha.
Beneath Him is a sweet romance which didn’t have tons and tons of sex in it, and I really enjoyed that. (Yes, Michelle, the one who is known for the EckFactor, is getting tired of all the sex.) And the more I thought about this book, the more I truly liked it.
“He pulled me to his chest, and when he kissed me, gravity ceased to exist. The sensation was like floating on air as the world erupted into chaos around us. But he was my anchor, pulling me back to earth—he was my home.”
Fortunately, this is a stand-alone novel, and it’s a quick read too. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
